UPHOLSTERY 2022
Posted by Justin Van Breda on Oct 31st 2022
To mark our 20th year, we have opened our own custom upholstery workshop; looking to the craft and techniques of the past - fusing modern classic flair with traditional making methods, including eight-way hand-tied sprung bases, creating meticulously made future heritage pieces. The collection explores the full potential of furniture and fabric; with every element fully wrapped and upholstered softening lines and traditional edges.

Eight way hand tied upholstery is the most traditionally comfortable way to make a sofa. In the search to be able to produce this fading art in craftsmanship we have partnered with our master craftsman in creating and building a workshop that not only produces this level of quality but will train apprentices and grow so the art is not lost and the craft continues.
Our pieces are constructed using coil springs tied by hand in eight directions which delivers the ultimate in support, comfort and stability. Our seat cushions and dining chairs have sprung options and internal materials that are composed of viscose wrapped foam in feather and down envelopes for the most inviting sit.

Emmy award winning designer Kerry Joyce whose fabrics and wallpapers combine Joyce’s powerful visual perspective, with reduced historical reference and nuanced colour palette, has provided the fabric for the collection alongside Justin's own linens and cottons.
